One basic thing which all website designers should know is to make the site user-friendly and not a strain to the visitors. You are aware that that there are a lot of really imaginative ways you can make your web page distinctly unique. Your objective must be to lure visitors to your site and ensure they stay there for long and not make them uncomfortable that they may leave in a hurry. Please bear in mind that many people do not use the latest versions of Netscape and Internet Explorer. Therefore avoid using scripts or things that are not supported by older browsers as you may be wasting too much time. Make it a point to test your Web pages on different browsers and satisfy they work.
Although Frames generally look fascinating and offer help for the designer, they are not convenient for search engines and they also do not offer the viewer the options of book-marking individual pages. Spend time to think about the nature of content and how it should be organized. This is as important as what your pages look like. You well tease your readers if they cannot easily find what they’re looking for if everything is thrown up on your site in a haphazard fashion. In today’s age, image backgrounds are considered amateurish. It is hard to find any professional, respected site that uses image backgrounds – be it Google, Yahoo, eBay, Amazon, the New York Times, Webmaster World etc.
